The Chisty Shifa Clinic is the most recent purpose built clinic in the heart of Port-Louis. It is a real polyclinic with a record number of departments covering a wide range of medical specialities. Since its opening, it has gone from strength to strength with the introduction of state of the art medical and surgical equipment and services.
The Clinic was inaugurated in April 1996 by the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr. Cassam Uteem. The Clinic is managed by a Trust with charitable aims. For this reason, the clinic's fees are reasonably priced and well within the reach of middle class who very often do not want to attend the Public Hospitals.
We have a well trained and dedicated personnel. Updates are regularly organized for Doctors and Nurses. We have also a large Conference Room which is used for this purpose and for organizing courses for health care assistants.
The Clinic has 50 beds and each room has an attached toilet and bathroom. Most of the beds are allocated to medical, surgical, paediatric and gynecological patients. The rooms are well aerated with air conditioner and equipped with flat screen TV 32" (MBC Channel and TNT) and additional bed can be installed at request of patient for relative to stay in. We have two large Operating Theatres. The Maternity Department is separate, with a delivery room and a nursery for new-borns. The rooms for patients have recently been upgraded with air conditioner, TV and toilet. WI-FI is also available in all rooms.
The Clinic has in addition a large dialysis room with 15 beds and daily dialysis is being carried out for some 25 patients with end stage Renal Failure.
An “Old People’s Home Department” with a 10-bed capacity is also available for long stay patients needing minimal nursing care.
One important aspect that differentiates the Chisty Shifa Clinic from the other clinics is its emphasis on prevention. For this reason numerous packages are available for Health Check-up, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Check-ups, as well as a women's health package for prevention and detection of cancer and precursors of cardio vascular diseases.
